SALT LAKE CITY — Vai Sikahema played in the 1984 National Championship BYU football team and now he has a successful career in broadcasting.
In his own words, Sikahema he told KSL TV why he believes he owes his success to his father.
Sikahema shared his story, beginning with his dreams to be a heavyweight champion and his successful football career.
"My father's dream became my dream, which was to be the heavyweight champion of the world," Sikahema said.
He said when he was a child, his father would take him to the library and show him magazines. Sikahema saw photos and stories of Muhammed Ali and his father told Sikahema that he would go to the U.S. one day and be a fighter.
"A lot of fathers and their sons like to go fishing to bond, some shoot baskets in the backyard to bond," Sikahema said. "My father and I bonded by boxing."
