DIAMOND FORK CANYON, Utah County — A woman is dead after her car crashed into a stream, police said Wednesday.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday night, a 33-year-old Orem woman entered Diamond Fork Canyon. About 11 miles up the road, the woman failed to correctly negotiate a corner, and the car crashed into a stream off to the side of the road, the Utah County Sheriff's Department said.

Around 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, the sheriff's office received reports of the crash. Sgt. Spencer Cannon said the car had been there for several hours. When they arrived on scene, the woman was deceased.

Currently, there is little information about what caused the crash, but there was some indication that alcohol may have been a factor, Cannon said.

Surveillance video showed the woman entering the canyon, but there is little information about why she was in the canyon.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.
