LAYTON — A cement worker received significant injuries after his leg was caught in the auger of a cement pump truck Wednesday morning.
Emergency officials received a call at about 10 a.m. reporting that a man was stuck in a cement pump truck auger at Geneva Rock Products at 750 E. on Highway 193, according to Doug Bitton with Layton City Fire Department.
When crews arrived, the man's leg was significantly entangled. It took crews 30 minutes to extricate the man. He was taken by Life Flight to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. Bitton said that his leg was "heavily compromised."
The man was an employee of Frontline, which Bitton described as a pump truck outfit. The truck was there being washed at facilities operated by Geneva Rock Products.
It is not clear if the man was washing the truck at the time, or how exactly he got caught in the auger, Bitton said.
The name and condition of the victim were unavailable. More details will be posted as they become available.
