MURRAY — Police have released surveillance footage of a man suspected of robbing a Murray Wells Fargo.

The robbery occurred Tuesday at 5:01 p.m. at the Wells Fargo located at 4920 S. State Street. The man entered the bank and gave the teller a note that demanded money and said he had a gun. No gun was seen, according to Officer Kenny Bass with the Murray Police Department.

"He obtained some cash — I don't know what it was — and fled. He left on foot out of the bank, but we're not sure where he headed," Bass said.

The man is believed to be the same man who robbed a Wells Fargo in Magna on Jan. 14.

Bass said Murray PD investigators, along with the FBI and Unified Police Department, have determined what the similarities are between the two robbers, but he could not speak further about that information.

Witnesses described the man as Caucasian, about 6 feet tall, with a medium build and a beard. He was reportedly wearing a camouflage jacket, a dark-colored beanie and aviator sunglasses.

The most important thing to do when a robbery occurs, according to Bass, is to "be the best witness you can possibly be."

"Don't get involved, don't try to stop anything, don't put yourself in harm's way at all," he said. "But any information you gather just by watching, listening and learning — yeah, you could be an incredible asset as a witness."

Bass said there are no current leads on the case, but police are hoping the public has information that can help investigators.

"We're hoping someone out there sees that lovely picture of him and knows who he is," he said.
