SALT LAKE CITY — Members from both the Democratic and Republican Party say they want to quickly reach an agreement about the fiscal cliff, even if it means not sticking to long held positions on taxes and entitlements.

Face to face with time running short, President Barack Obama and Republican House Speaker John Boehner negotiated at the White House on Thursday night in what aides called "frank" talks aimed at breaking a stubborn deadlock and steering the nation away from an economy-threatening "fiscal cliff."According to an NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, 70 percent of Democrats and 59 percent of Republicans are ready for their party leaders to reach an agreement.
Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch has faced fiscal cliffs before. He spoke to John Daley from Washington about what it will take to reach a compromise.
"If the president would weigh in and really work with the Speaker of the House, I have no doubt they could get to a deal," Hatch said, "and I have no doubt the Democrats would follow the president, they'd have to."
