The questioning of prospective jurors in the murder trial of an actor who played a police officer on the television series "The Shield" will resume Tuesday morning, with opening statements expected to begin later in the day.
Jury selection began Monday, with a judge telling 70 prospective jurors about Michael Jace's work as an actor and noting the case has received some publicity.
April Jace, 40, was a financial aid counselor at Biola University and had two sons with the defendant. The boys were 8 and 5 when she was killed in 2014.
Her family called her death a senseless act of domestic violence.

Jury selection has begun in the murder trial of an actor who played a police officer on the television series "The Shield."
Michael Jace turned himself in two years ago and told a police dispatcher that he shot his wife April Jace.
He has pleaded not guilty and his attorneys have said his state of mind at the time will be a key issue in the trial.
A prosecutor has said the actor shot his wife of nine years in the back then again in front of their young sons.
The 53-year-old actor has been jailed since the shooting.
Potential jurors were summoned Monday to a downtown Los Angeles courtroom for the trial expected to last about a week.

Few details about April Jace's death have been revealed, but a prosecutor has said Jace shot his wife in the back and then shot her again as their young children watched.
The 53-year-old actor has remained in jail since the killing.
