Job Description
We are a fast-growing child safety GPS company located in the Salt Lake City and Phoenix areas with product offerings that include GPS/GSM hardware, smartphone apps, and web-based assets. We are interested in securing the services of an in-house Embedded Software Engineer [Android / Linux / Kernel].
Requirements
The successful candidate will possess all or most of the following skills:
• Complete command of Android OS, and embedded Linux Kernel and drivers.
• Strong firmware development skills.
• Professional mastery of C/C++, and Java.
• Experience with J2ME.
• Experience customizing/writing Linux BSPs.
• Practical experience leveraging GSM/CDMA-based GPS & Wi-Fi technologies, with an emphasis on analysis, low-level programming and optimization.
• Familiarity with RF algorithms & parameters.
• Broad experience interacting with mobile handset hardware (drivers, etc.)
• Professional command of electronics hardware test equipment.
Additional Desired Skills:
• Smartphone App development experience (iPhone and/or Android).
• Experience with JSON, Web Services, jQuery Mobile, and HTML5.
• Experience with source version control software (Git/Gitolite).
Strong preference will be given to candidates with a professional working history in the mobile phone industry (engineering capacity), and to candidates who have produced smartphone Apps that are currently available in the Android Marketplace and iTunes.
Preference will be given to candidates who live in, or are willing to re-locate to, Salt Lake City, or (secondarily) Phoenix.
