The Bartender is responsible for greeting customers, taking drink/food orders, mixing ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, and sugar to prepare cocktails and other drinks, as well as serving beer and other beverages, and completing transactions; communicating ticket times and potential problems to the manager on duty and the servers as necessary; providing the highest quality of service to customers and associates at all times; performs all other responsibilities as directed by the business or as assigned by management.

Greets guests, mixes and serves alcoholic beverages and non-alcoholic drinks according to specifications. Takes guest orders and serves promptly. Prepares bar food items and condiments. Operates a cash register (or equivalent) efficiently and timely. Receives payment of cash, checks, charges and vouchers from guests or associates for food and beverages or services, make change and issue receipts to guests. Maintains proper security of cash at all times. Inventory, stock, requisition and arrange bar supplies and glasses to make an attractive display. Special attention to sanitation and neatness as well as maintenance of bar area may be expected. Food and beverage handling includes stocking, date rotating, and checking temperature of product. Responsible for identifying types of liquors, beers, wines and prices of each beverage. Knowledge of bar prices and drinks. Responsible for garnishing, mixing, portioning and using the proper glassware. Follows alcohol awareness procedures for preventing intoxication and deals with intoxicated guests. Follows Utah state liquor laws and all HMSHost customer service, adult beverage and cash handling policies and procedures. Maintains cleanliness of facility and follows safety procedures. Carries out reasonable requests by management. QUALIFICATIONS: Holds current Food Handlers permit (provided by HMSHost). Certification through Adult Beverage training course approved by Utah (provided by HMSHost) Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (UDABC) (provided by HMSHost) Must be at least 21 years of age Requires at least 1 year of closely related bartending experience, work experience in high volume or fast casual dining restaurant environment preferred Requires knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits as well as their preparation and presentation keeping updated on new and revised beverage recipes Demonstrates the ability to interact with the public and coworkers in a friendly, enthusiastic and outgoing manner Requires the ability to speak, read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and policy documents, as well as converse comfortably with customers Cash handling and customer service experience preferred Frequently immerses hands in water and water diluted with chemical solutions
