Utah Animal Adoption Center Shelter Assistant Position Description Title: Animal Shelter Assistant Reports to: Shelter Manager Location: 1955 North Redwood Road Occasional support required at satellite adoption locations Salary Range: $7.25 hour Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: This is a part-time position between 20 and 28 hours/week. Days of work may include weekends and some holidays Utah Animal Adoption Center is a non-profit rescue organization serving all of Utah. We house last chance dogs and cats until they find their forever homes and never euthanize healthy, adoptable pets. We save over a thousand dogs and cats each year, and prevent thousands more from entering the shelter system through our spay and neuter program. Position Description Keep the shelter environment, including dog and cat kennels and other animal areas, kitchens, restroom, and storage areas clean and organized. Feed animals according to schedule and feeding instructions. Clean and maintain floors, windows, kennels, cages, open areas etc. Dispose of trash, recyclable materials and animal waste. Perform routine housekeeping tasks such as laundry, dishwashing, etc. Clean and maintain other areas, as directed, including assisting with cleaning kennels and cat areas. Help with dog or cat services daily. Report any supply stock needs or shelter maintenance issues to Shelter Manager. Assist in other areas of the shelter as directed. Assist fellow employees and other departments as needed. Maintain compliance with UAAC policies and procedures. Comply with all State, Federal and local laws, ordinances and regulations. Occasional overtime may be required.
Relocation costs may be covered.
Qualifications Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team environment. Must have good verbal and written communication and prioritization skills. Must be detail oriented and organized. Ability to safely lift 80 lbs. Ability to work closely with animals (dogs and cats) hair/dander/etc. for extended periods of time. Must be high school graduate, have a current driver license and auto. insurance, and be a legal resident of the USA. Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
