Love working with children? Thought of using your CNA in a school setting? A job as a Special Education Self-Help Assistant could be right for you. Employees in this position assist Special Education Teachers in Functional Life Skills classes. They work with elementary school students who have severe mental and physical disabilities by teaching the students basic academics and life skills. Tasks include working with medically fragile students, which requires performing specialized health care procedures (suctioning of tracheotomy, blood glucose testing, colostomy care, respiratory assistance, etc.). This position works approximately 29.5 hours per week. This position is not eligible for medical benefits.
Relocation costs may be covered.
Must be able to adhere to student behavioral plans at the direction of the teacher; must be patient and consistent with students. Must have high school diploma or equivalent and must be able to lift 50 lbs. to chest level, using appropriate lifting technique. Experience as a CNA is a big plus.
