Silicon Valley IP boutique firm seeks a patent attorney for their Salt Lake City office to oversee their patent operations and join their growing team of patent professionals that service its rapidly expanding premier client base. Candidates must have a Juris Doctor or equivalent from an ABA‐accredited law school or be in their third year of law school, and be eligible and pass the Examination for Registration to Practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) prior to or within 3 months of commencement of employment. Desired qualities include: ??? Patent prosecution experience in a law firm handling U.S. and foreign patent matters, docketing, and portfolio management; ??? Excellent management abilities and supervisory experience; ??? Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines; ??? Professional, self‐disciplined and capable of working independently; ??? Excellent at multi‐tasking with the ability to diligently manage and organize priorities and workflows; ??? In‐depth knowledge of patent prosecution rules and procedures (ability to navigate the USC, CFR, and MPEP); ??? Strong problems solving aptitude and resourcefulness; ??? Capable of working in a paperless office environment and proficient at electronic filing with the USPTO; ??? Strong computer skills with in‐depth experience with various software applications, including MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat; ??? Strong teamwork orientation; ??? Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to changes in a fast‐paced environment; and ??? Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities include: ??? Distribution and maintenance of workflow for patent paralegals; ??? Management and supervision of patent paralegals; ??? Preparation and filing of USPTO submissions; ??? Review of proposed patent law and regulation changes, and quarterly presentation to attorneys and legal staff of the proposed changes; ??? Presentation on firm???s patent operations and changes at annual attorney retreat; ??? Management of internal administrative projects, including client intake and inbound/outbound of patent portfolios; Maintenance of a docket, including tracking of upcoming due dates to ensure issues are handled in a timely manner; and ??? Respond to client needs in accordance with specific client preferences and procedures.
