Background World Joy (WJ), a young and growing Utah-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, announces a job opening to serve as its Executive Director. Established in 2005, WJ was founded to work hand-in-hand with local government, tribal leaders and the people in the rural Atiwa District of Easter Region, Ghana, to improve lives by strengthening public education and public health care services. WJ depends on charitable donations to carry out its objectives. Purposes and Scope The World Joy executive director is responsible for the development and maintenance of effective diversified, community-based fund-raising strategy. She/He is also responsible for the overall management of the organization, including the effective operations of Home Office and Field Program operations. Responsibilities ??? Guide and support the work of the organization towards it common objectives. ??? Provide leadership and administrative support to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, and program committees in setting achievable goals, developing plans and carrying out effective WJ activities. ??? Develop multi-year long-range plans as the basis for strategic decisions as well as long-term budget needs. ??? In coordination with appropriate WJ committees and officers, prepare budgets for approval by the WJ Board of Directors, provide comprehensive accounting and reporting for WJ spending, and oversee fundraising, volunteer recruitment and program development. ??? Seek out and pursue fundraising opportunities, including grants and other sources of income, in order to ensure the continued financial security of WJ. ??? Establish and maintain contact with current and potential donors, foundations, governmental agencies, and continually work to keep the fundraising efforts of WJ visible to the general public. ??? Maintain an orderly administration of all WJ operations, including financial, legal, organizational and program. ??? Provide oversight and continuing evaluation for all WJ field operations, including staff, programs, facilities, and service expeditions. ??? Work to establish WJ as a leading and authoritative voice in matters relating to rural development in West Africa, particularly in public education and primary health care, and in providing meaningful community service opportunities for desiring contributors through partnerships, conferences, educational opportunities, and periodic publications. ??? Inspire and maintain the confidence of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers and donors of WJ. Organization Relationships: The Executive Director reports directly to the WJ Board Chairman and the Board of Directors.

Job Requirements: A. Education and Training: Minimum bachelor???s degree, with some management and marketing/fundraising skills; ideally, some classroom exposure to international and/or program development, including education and/or health. B. Technical Requirements: Good computer skills in latest business software applications, particularly Microsoft Office; and understanding of basic principles of budgeting and finance, and competence in administering budgets; ability to meet and communicate effectively with experienced business and community leaders, and a comfort level in recruiting volunteers and in working with community groups. C. Managerial Experience: Minimum 1-3 years??? experience in general management and supervision, ideally in nonprofit settings.
