    Job Description

    Department Agricultural Systems Technology & Education (ASTE) Location USU Eastern Price Campus Position Summary USU Eastern is seeking a dynamic, knowledgeable, and experienced instructor to teach in the nationally recognized welding program at USU Eastern. This is a tenure track position. USU Eastern, located in Price, Utah, is a comprehensive regional college (community college mission plus selected baccalaureate and graduate degrees) in the USU system. The town of Price is a small, safe, and diverse community in the high plateau region of eastern Utah. A drive of an hour or more north leads to the cities of the Wasatch Front, Salt Lake City International Airport, and some of the country???s best ski resorts and mountain scenery. A similar drive to the south leads to Utah???s famous national parks and access to some of the best outdoor recreational resources in the American West Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: * Classroom instruction, with a typical teaching load of 15-19 workload hours per semester. * Teaching welding classes in common arc welding processes to high school and college students. * Management and upkeep of the welding lab. * Coordinate & meet biannually with a welding advisory committee. * Teaching some evening and community courses. * Teaching some non-credit courses and providing certifications for industry. * Regularly serve on departmental, divisional, and institutional committees. * Advise & recruit students. * Participate in and promote Skills USA. * Service activities are required as part of the regular faculty workload.

    Relocation costs may be covered.


    Minimum Qualifications * A.S. or A.A.S. degree required; a B.S. or higher degree preferred. * Six or more years of industry or related experience required. Up to two years of welding education at the college level may be substituted for work experience. * An ability to set specific departmental goals and develop related curriculum. * Able to help students learn through lab and lecture. * Teaching-focused candidates who understand and are committed to the mission of USU. * Committed to supportive relationships with students and peers. * Willingness and ability to accommodate various student learning styles. * Committed to participate in professional growth and to remain current in the subject. * A desire to succeed and a willingness to work to become a better instructor and technician. Preferred Qualifications * Experience working with high school students * Welding automation experience. * B.S. Degree, welding * Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) * Certified Welding Educator (CWE) * Teaching experience at the college level * Welding certifications and journeyman level welding skills. * Welder & welding procedure qualification experience.
