    Job Description

The Dental Assisting Instructor is responsible for the instruction of students enrolled in The Core Foundation’s dental assisting training program, as outlined in the course catalog. This includes: preparing lectures, lecturing, providing clinical guidance, scheduling and tracking intern/externship hours, grading homework and exams, in-office training of current assistants (as needed), providing documentation of student progress as required by state agencies and, most importantly, creating an educational environment that is both fun and informative for our students. S/he is also expected to take an active role in the marketing and expansion of the current program, along with any subsequent programs, as well as working closely with the Academic Administrator to ensure program success. The instructor will prepare dental assistants to enter into the workforce with a minimum entry level skill set. This includes: resume preparation, professional networking in the field, operating knowledge of Dentrix, preparing Dental Assistants for patients’ dental examination, performing chair-side duties (such as handing the dentist the proper materials and tools needed for the procedure), operating suction, operating x-ray machines, taking impressions of a patient's mouth or teeth, sterilizing instruments, utilizing techniques of infection control, and mixing compounds for cleaning or filling teeth. As the Core Academic Administrator, S/he will perform administrative duties for The Core Foundation Training Programs, including but not limited to dental assisting and administration programs. S/he will work closely with the Core instructor to insure program and student success. This position doesn't fit neatly into a traditional executive support role. You will provide high-level administrative support by drafting professional correspondence, conducting research, handling information requests, organizing/filing, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, meetings, travel arrangements, etc. S/he will execute the completion of special projects, manage complex details, anticipate the needs of The Core Foundation and ideally have them handled before they know what they need.     Must be a Certified Dental Assistant and Have the necessary skills in all areas of Dentistry to teach effectively.     Responsibilities

    Dental Assisting Instructor: 1. Provide instruction for students, as outlined in the Core course catalog, calendar and curriculum. 2. Provide hands-on clinical instruction to ensure excellent patient care following graduation, office familiarity and laboratory duties. 3. Train students to make patients as comfortable as possible in the dental chair, prepare them for treatment, and obtain their dental records. 4. Train students to hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients’ mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices. 5. Train students how to sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare trays of instruments for dental procedures, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care. 6. Train students to prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x-rays, and process x-ray film as directed by the dentist. 7. Train students to schedule appointments using Dentrix, order dental supplies and materials. 8. Educate students how to actively participate in the achievement of patient satisfaction and office production goals by working efficiently and providing a high level of patient service. 9. Assists with other duties as needed. Including new employee training (Dental Assistants only). 10. Perform weekly marketing duties 11. Report any potential problems directly to the Office Manager, Academic Administrator and/or Executive Academic Director. Core Academic Administrator: 1. Assist, organize and relieve instructor of a wide range of routine and non-routine administrative detail so that they may concentrate on teaching and student success. 2. Keep abreast of general business objectives, policies, standards, services, facilities, procedures and related information in order to maintain a comprehensive awareness of the organization and better respond on The Core Foundation’s behalf 3. Create and maintain files for document intensive transactions 4. Compose, edit, type and/or draft, and distribute correspondence/memorandum from verbal and written direction. 5. Create charts, spreadsheets, databases and merge files for past, current and future students. 6. Handling instructor questions and conducting research for instructor assistance 7. Operate office equipment such as copiers, scanners, fax machines, etc. 8. Prepare outgoing mail, including faxes, emails, and overnight ship 9. Supervising the management of all Core correspondence conducted by the Executive Administrative Assistant: maintaining up-to-date database, calendar, act as a liaison between students and instructor. 10. Manage all Core educational documents: curriculum, calendar, catalog, application 11. Supervising Core Student Registrations 12. Maintaining accurate student records as required by the Department Of Commerce. 13. Supervising Maintenance of accurate Financial Arrangement records and collecting payments as agreed. 14. Timely and efficient follow-through of all other projects needed by instructor, executive staff and students to increase communication flow for all companies 15. Word processing, filing, data entry, scheduling of appointments, and making travel arrangements (as needed). 16. Compiling, Completing and Submitting yearly application for Post Secondary School permit each year when due. 17. Report any non compliance of Company Policy or potential legal issues directly to the CEO. Program Development Functions: 1. Coordinate and schedule all open houses, career fairs, kiosk presence, marketing campaigns. Involving the Instructor when needed at events. 2. Conduct industry research, as required by Executive Educational Director for development of new programs and space utilization. 3. Create/Implement new programs. 4. Update/Maintain Organizational Chart. 5. Quality Control Maintenance

    Qualifications

    Dental Assisting Instructor: 1. Extensive experience in both dental assisting and front office procedures, with a minimum of 4 years dental assisting experience. 2. Previous teaching experience in a dental assisting program is preferred. 3. Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and willingness to certify as a CPR instructor. 4. Current certification in radiology. 5. Comprehensive knowledge of the organization, functions, responsibilities and procedures of dental and dental training facilities. 6. Considerable knowledge of and ability to use personal computers and related software. 7. Considerable interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. 8. Demonstrated leadership skills Core Academic Administrator: 1. Associates Degree or equivalent (experience working in the healthcare environment preferred); must have 3+ years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in instructing and must thrive in an ambiguous, dynamic environment with very little structure 2. Familiarity with the following software: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, email and internet 3. Demonstrated knowledge of organizational techniques, quality and process improvement projects 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
