The Routing Coordinator establishes bus routes and stops, resolves District transportation issues, provides resource information to a variety of sources; arranges transportation for special events; responds to inquiries from students, parents and staff; and operates and maintains various computer software programs which support the District???s transportation system. Essential duties include, but are not limited to: ??? Administers computerized transportation system (installs software, beta tests, etc.) to provide system support to transportation services. ??? Assists with review and assignment of routes and with route changes (i.e., clock schedules, physically measuring route distances, evaluating and designating bus stops, maintaining route descriptions, etc.) to determine safe and effective bus routes in conformance with school policies and state guidelines. ??? Audits and evaluates routes (e.g., verify stops, times, mileage, etc.) to ensure bus routes are in compliance with school safety schedules, policies and guidelines and to make recommendations on route changes, optimization and timing. ??? Communicates with drivers and others on all relevant matters to ensure safe and timely student transportation. ??? Compiles route statistics (e.g., mileage, driver time, student count, addresses, bus capacity, etc.) to meet all reporting requirements. ??? Coordinates student transportation activities with school administrators, department heads, drivers, and other groups (e.g., bus routes, field trips, commercial carriers, etc.) to ensure District transportation needs are met. ??? Maintains data regarding routes, drivers and issues on routes (e.g., computerized mapping, employee work hours, daily logs, etc.). ??? Monitors the work of assigned drivers and assistants (e.g., directs daily activities, participate in interviewing, recommending corrective action and discipline, etc.) to ensure efficient and effective operation of department. ??? Performs functions of a Bus Driver when needed to meet the District???s transportation needs. ??? Recommends route additions, adjustments and/or consolidations resulting from student needs (e.g., road closures, etc.) to make safe and efficient routes. ??? Reviews and prepares a variety of documents and reports (e.g., field trip reports, incident reports, student counts, daily employee work hours, federal, state and District reports, etc.) to ensure accurate and complete documentation.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. At least one year experience working in a school district or public transportation department. Basic computer ability in Word and Excel. Knowledge of pertinent transportation codes, policies, regulations and/or laws and safety practices. Good interpersonal and oral and written communication skills. Ability to prioritize, show strong attention to detail and accuracy, and multitask in an office setting. Ability to work with minimal supervision and with frequent interruptions. Ability to meet deadlines and schedules. Valid Utah Driver???s License and Evidence of Insurability Must have or obtain CDL License or obtain one within first 90 days of employment. Preferred Qualifications: Experience using Versa Trans software or transportation routing software.
