The primary responsibilities of this job include managing the day-to-day construction of the product by directing development efforts and projects of Software Engineers. Coaches teams to fulfill their duties and responsibilities, and evaluates employee performance. Ensures sound software construction practices, defines development processes, monitors correct implementation of software, and coordinates with the Sr. Development Department Manager to develop operation guidelines and code reviews.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities ??? Manage software development teams and projects of various sizes ??? Ensure projects have start and end goals with established time lines with appropriate milestones for achievement ??? Develop communications and follow up with all teams and organizations including project status, (architecture, design and implementation objectives) ??? Collaborate with Sr. Development Department Manager and Program Management to organize projects through development of a project plan which includes communication of product goals, definition of project strategy, identification of the roles and responsibilities of key project groups, development of a schedule with key milestones, identification of risks, contingency plans and allocation of project resources ??? Track and ensure QA test plans meet the project requirements ??? Hiring, training, appraising, rewarding, motivating, disciplining, terminating as necessary ??? Manage department projects and responsibilities, assign resources, and delegate work effectively to ensure accurate and timely completion ??? Experience in C/C++, Java, or C# ??? Familiarity with Java and C#/WPF preferred ??? Proficient on UNIX and Windows platforms ??? Skilled at RDBMS data design/modeling ??? Knowledgeable of Object Oriented Programming techniques ??? Essential Education, Work Experience and Skills Education and Work Experience An extensive background in software development is required. A Bachelor???s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field is beneficial. In the absence of a Bachelor???s degree, additional related experience is required. A minimum of a high school diploma is required. A good knowledge of software development processes and procedures is required. Previous experience in a management position is preferred. Specialized Knowledge and Skills An excellent knowledge of all areas of business operations is required, as well as knowledge of heavy-duty industry standards and practices. Proven experience managing software development projects is required. A high level of expertise in software development, project management, and implementation is required. The ability to use sound judgment in dealing with business issues and concerns and effectively counsel staff at all levels on resolutions to issues and concerns is required. Excellent communication, leadership, decision-making, time management, teamwork and organization skills are required. Prefer experience using or working in a project management capacity. Understands process controls, time lines, and working to meet project demands and commitment dates.
