Role: The ksl.com News Director leads the ksl.com content mission, vision and strategy to ensure alignment with the company???s overall mission and achieve business objectives. The News Director is responsible for the ksl.com news strategy, content selection and executing brand voice. The News Director role is dynamic, working in a collaborative environment, with multiple teams, in multiple media formats, and across multiple platforms. The News Director role requires wide-ranging experience including: leadership, team management, content creation, content selection, news judgment, process management, strategy implementation and data analysis. The News Director is connected to the Utah news and information community and understands what issues are relevant to the ksl.com audience. Job Duties: ???Lead the ksl.com content mission, vision and strategy ???Manage daily online newsroom strategy and operations, including content selection, creation, curation, aggregation and placement ???Manage and schedule ksl.com news staff, remote and on-location employees whose responsibilities include: content creation, editing, social media and user generated content (UGC) ???Train staff to meet content standards and business objectives ???Assign topics, events and stories to ksl.com content creators ???Develop and maintain a positive working relationship with newsroom team ???Collaborate with KSL TV, KSL News Radio, Deseret News, and DMC shared newsroom News Directors and other related managers ???Within reason, position is on-call all the time, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year ???Identify, assess and manage risks to the success of the ksl.com news product ???Determine and understand key product performance indicators ???Deliver reports on an ongoing (usually monthly) basis that analyze key metrics, benchmarks, and other key performance indicators ???Interpret data from a variety of partner vendors for meaningful reports for internal and external use ???Assist in the authoring and preparation of presentation materials, incorporating current industry research and trends ???Work with Sales Teams to facilitate revenue opportunities and assist in reaching revenue objectives ???Manage external community contributor network ???Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve content readability and supervise others who do this work ???Manage all aspects of the ksl.com news product to ensure compliance with organization brand, mission, and user experience standards ???Ensure best practices are implemented in the areas of SEO and Social Media within an online newsroom environment

Qualifications: ???5 years previous online news experience, including: content creation, curation, aggregation, publishing and management experience. ???Prefer previous experience as an online news director or similar role. ???Bachelors degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field ???Ability to lead, inspire and support an online news team ???Capacity to create, produce, aggregate, curate and edit web content including written text, photos/images, video and audio ???Is innovative and has ability to thrive in a changing news and information industry ???Content management experience across desktop, tablet, mobile web and mobile app platforms ???Understanding of how to participate in and use social media in a news and content strategy ???Knowledge of SEO tactics and best practices in an online newsroom setting ???Ability to help develop and implement strategic content plans and brand strategies ???Ability to establish, monitor and achieve key product performance indicators ???Experience gathering and analyzing market intelligence and user feedback ???Is energetic, friendly, flexible, and can work with and motivate external community content contributors ???Basic web technology experience required, including HTML ???Experience with content management systems and photo manipulation tools ???Capable of developing online news rubrics and content guidelines
