Job Description
Lead, coordinate and ensure compliance with Safety program requirements.

Drive and lead proactive EHS activities.

Maintain, update and audit all environmental permits, certifications and registrations. Collects samples and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with environmental permits. Coordinates all disposal of hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste. Develop new processes for elimination of hazardous waste and non-hazardous waste.

Performs/assists with accident investigations. Insures that all necessary corrective actions are taken to prevent future incidents. Communicates recommendation to all concerned parties promptly.

Coordinate and conducts work area assessment, surveys, and programs evaluations to determine the presence of hazardous conditions, such as noise exposure, chemical exposure, indoor air quality, light levels, confined spaces, and ventilation in paint booths.

Manages the work compensation program to determine areas for increased training and emphasis on accident prevention. Provides statistical and fiscal data on workers’ compensation injuries. Maintains complete and accurate records as required. Prepares various reports, including charts and graphs, to determine trends and needs. Champions the reduction of workers compensation costs.

Develops fire prevention programs including building evacuation procedures.

Implement industrial hygiene and safety engineering into manufacturing processes.

Coordinate emergency preparedness activities.

Develop and implement corrective action plans using solid Safety and Environmental processes.

Drive safety and environmental improvements utilizing a Safety Committee.

Determine and implement required and proactive EHS training.

Write and update all required Safety and Environmental programs.

Develop and report safety and environmental metrics.

Conduct audits and implement actions plans.

Maintain all records associated with Safety and Environmental regulations and standards and company management system.

Advises management in regards to environment and safety regulations, standards and best practices.

All other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s degree and at least five (5) years of progressive responsibility within Safety and Environment. Required.
Requires extensive knowledge of federal, state and local environment, health and safety laws and the ability to operate a variety of specialized measure and monitoring techniques.
Ability to carry out assigned projects to their completion with minimal supervision. Ability to work independently with a multitude of tasks.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form. Ability to establish and maintain professional and effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and management.
Must have excellent problem solving skills.
Ability to maintain the utmost confidentiality in dealing with employee records and business information.
