Job Description
Position Summary
Raises funds to support Mentors International (MI) from charitable, institutional, foundation and corporate donors. Responsible for developing and implementing the development strategy for Mentors International.
Organizational Relationships
Reports to the President/CEO. Supports and motivates members of the Board of Directors in their networking and fund raising activities. Develops and maintains effective relationships with individual, institutional, foundation, corporate donors and other funding sources. Collaborates with other management and staff in funding related activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for developing and implementing the development strategy for Mentors International.
Leveraging key relationships and contacts to ensure meeting annual revenue goals.
Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate & foundation sponsors, and individual donors
Develop and grow Mentors individual donor base; manage annual giving campaign; cultivate major gifts.
Prepare and present funding proposals and follow up to obtain desired responses.
Prepare and present planned giving requests as assigned.
Write grant proposals and reports to corporate and foundation funders.
Identify other financing sources and seeks their investment participation.
Extraordinary networker!
Fulfill agreed upon objectives for funding.
Participate in the execution of special fund raising events such as the annual gala.
Supervise donor relations activities and donor records, seeking always to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of related systems and procedures.
Maintain visibility of trends and opportunities and keep CEO abreast of them.
Provide periodic reports on progress of the development program.

Achieve the agreed upon portion of required funding.
Continuous engagement of donor and corporate base
Timely and successful execution of new corporate/business fundraising campaigns

Requirements
5-10 years of direct sales or business development experience in a service industry or with a nonprofit; emphasis on corporate sponsorships or corporate sales is a plus
Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and/or a quota of over $1M annually
Proven management and leadership capabilities
Experience working with Senior Level executives in a corporate environment (C-level/VP)
High energy, positive, can-do attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative.
Strong verbal communications skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively
Demonstrated ability to think strategically and thorough understanding of strategic development
Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage new accounts
Strong partnership-building and event planning skills
Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base
Good computer skills and knowledge of data base programs
Proven track record of achieving revenue targets and/or a quota of over $1M annually
Proven management and leadership capabilities
