Job Description
The Applications Lab Technician works within the product development group in the applications lab to flavor client products. The applications lab flavors new products as well as current products that require changes or updates. The application lab is vital to the growth and success of VMI Nutrition and requires strong employees with great attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Work with project managers to meet product flavoring requirements
Work with project managers to complete projects in order of priority
Track and report raw materials that are picked from the warehouse in order to keep inventory levels accurate
Develop skills in tasting and flavoring
Report the status of projects to project managers and supervisor
Work on projects that require the picking, weighing, and mixing of raw materials (picking raw materials will involve moderate lifting up to 55lbs)
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the lab and equipment within the lab
Organoleptic approval of inventory received

Requirements

Willingness to taste various samples of nutritional and supplemental powders (this includes samples that are not always pleasing to the palate and may contain stimulants such as caffeine)
Previous laboratory experience preferred
Understanding of units of measure such as ounces, lbs, grams, kgs, cc, ml, etc. Must understand how to convert back and forth between all units of measure
Willingness to learn and attend trainings involving flavoring processes, procedures, and techniques
Should not have allergies to the eight major allergens (egg, fish, milk, peanuts, shellfish, soy, treenuts, wheat)
Strong desire to be a part of a growing team and an interest in the nutrition industry
Efficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
Willingness to taste various samples of nutritional and supplemental powders (this includes samples that are not always pleasing to the palate and may contain stimulants such as caffeine)
