Job Description
Responsible for accurately and efficiently managing all accounting activities for the organization including accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, payroll, general ledger, asset tracking, bank and other reconciliations, cash management, major capital projects, tracking and reporting grant expenditures and pension plan accounting. Responsible for maintaining current and accurate general ledger and associated subsidiary ledgers. Responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial and other monthly reports for management as requested. Responsible for developing and maintaining a system of internal controls over the organization’s assets. Responsible for preparing the annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and as required by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board for independent audit purposes and preparation of various reports required by the Federal Transit Administration such as the National Transit Database report.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. EDUCATION/TRAINING:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Business Management plus a CPA. Proficient at using spreadsheets and automated systems.
2. EXPERIENCE:
Seven (7) years’ recent work experience in accounting, to include a minimum of four (4) years of governmental enterprise and grant accounting experience, four (4) years’ experience as a supervisor and five (5) years’ experience as Comptroller or position primarily responsible for organization’s accounting and financial reporting. Experience with Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) preparation software.

An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. [UTA reserves the right to determine the equivalencies of education and experience.]
