Job Description
Serve as the plant’s medical professional under the general direction of a local Occupational Provider. Administers Workers’ Compensation claims and directly manages the Company return-to-work program. Administers emergency medical treatment in cases of accidents or illnesses. Manages the employee hearing conservation program and administers hearing tests as needed. Administers wellness programs that are designed to enhance employees’ health and welfare. Maintains confidential, accurate, up-to-date medical and Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) records for the location. Works closely with the plant general management taking a proactive approach towards providing a safe working environment utilizing MCE techniques.

Assist the Safety & Security Manager with the facilitation of safety programs, including but not limited to hearing conservation, blood borne pathogens, and OSHA reporting. Facilitate and coordinate health programs and processes within the Human Resources department. Conduct and/or coordinate periodic training, including but not limited to first aid, CPR, wellness, and other related areas.

Assess the nature of injuries/illnesses and assume responsibility to either treat or recommend appropriate treatment. Contacts physician and hospital to arrange for further medical treatment, when needed. Coordinates the administration of and/or provides immunizations and vaccines.

Responsible for the administration of Workers’ Compensation benefits, STD and FMLA and works on a professional, confidential level with hospitals, physicians and other health care providers to ensure proper treatment. Responsible to initialize medical care for all work-related injuries and illnesses. Responsible for all written and verbal communication that may or may not be confidential pertaining to the medical department, including: employee education in health and safety procedures, Workers’ Compensation claims and procedures, and accumulation of medical histories on all employees.

Oversees the general health and wellness of the McCain employees which includes but is not limited to the following: monitor the functioning of the Blood.Pressure. machines & AED, supervise the various exercise programs (The Challenge, McCain in Motion, etc.), smoking cessation program, and the educational programs (bathroom postings, brochure racks, handouts), and assist with employee suggestion program.

Oversee the ongoing process of the development of the Job Site Analysis. Facilitate and oversee the ongoing process of the Functional Capacity Exams & Nerve Conduction Studies, eye & hearing exams, etc., which are utilized in the hiring process and with those, employed who move into upgraded positions within the plant.

Requirements
The successful candidate will have graduated from a four (4) year degreed Registered Nursing program. Prefer three to five years of emergency / trauma experience, in an industrial environment. Must posses the ability to effectively support and communicate the Company’s policies and procedures at the plant location. Must have the ability to manage conflict with Case Management of Workers’ Compensation, STD and FMLA cases. Must have the ability to teach and train the appropriate plant personnel in becoming certified in emergency care including First Aid, CPR, and AED. Must have the ability to manage the plant Hearing Conservation program and the drug testing program. Preferred candidate will have exposure to the following: industrial safety programs, ergonomic programs, variety of health & wellness programs, and Workers’ Compensation Law and policies including continuous updating of the same. Must have ability to maintain updated certification for First Aid, CPR & AED, and maintain certification for managing the plant Hearing Conservation program.
