    Assistant Nutrition Manager

    Job Description

    This position assists a POD Kitchen Manager or a Nutrition Manager in a larger high school kitchen with the daily operation of the kitchen as the incumbent learns how to independently manage a school kitchen safely, effectively, and efficiently; also substitutes for other Nutrition Managers at all school levels throughout the district when they are absent from work or on extended leave (up to 6 months). In addition to working throughout the school year, individuals in this position have the opportunity to work extra hours during the summer months. Sample duties include, but are not limited to: Assists assigned kitchen manager with food inventory, food orders and stocking food, condiments and supplies; Assists assigned kitchen manager with monitoring food service equipment and point of sales for secondary multiple lines; Assists assigned kitchen manager with monitoring kitchen and cafeteria areas; Assists assigned kitchen manager with preparing documentation; Assists assigned kitchen manager with responding to inquiries of students, staff and the public; Assists assigned kitchen manager with budgeting, receiving of money and record keeping; Assists assigned kitchen manager with collecting payments for food items, and reconciling transactions; Leads assigned personnel, student workers and/or volunteers.

    Relocation costs may be covered.


    Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of health standards and hazards; quantity cooking; and safety practices and procedures. Ability and skill to operate equipment used in food preparation and to maintain accurate records. Ability to set priorities; work as part of a team; work with detailed information/data; adapt to change; meet deadlines and schedules; and maintain confidentiality. Preferred Qualifications: One year management experience in the food industry.
