Job Description
Currently accepting applications for substitute teachers for Utah County Schools/School Districts, grades Pre-K to 12, for the 2012-2013 school year. In the absence of the full time classroom teacher, the substitute teacher provides instruction, encourages student's progress, and manages the learning environment. Implement existing lesson plans in a manner that ensures the integrity of academic time, and motivates students to learn and participate. Instruct students regarding a variety of classroom topics and courses of instruction. Follow lesson plans as required by school and Kelly Services policy. Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students in accordance with the lesson plans. Address the various learning types of students accordingly. Model correct use of spoken and written English language. Demonstrate professional practices in teaching. For long-term assignments, it may be required to develop lesson plans; devise, administer, and grade tests and assignments; participate in parent-teacher conferences; and attend school-related functions. (These activities may occur outside of normal school hours). Maintain classroom control that fosters a safe, positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with Kelly Services, school, state, and all applicable laws and regulations. Ensure adequate supervision of students and the classroom environment to assure the health, welfare, and safety of all students. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect equipment, materials, and facilities. Remain in classroom and monitor students at all times. Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the Kelly supervisor and school personnel immediately. May supervise students in out-of-class settings (e.g., assemblies, lunchroom).
Requirements
The minimum requirements to be a substitute teacher with Kelly Educational Staffing are a high school diploma or GED, the ability to read and write in English, favorable results on a seven-year criminal background check, be at least 20 years of age, have experience working in an educational environment and be able to work 5 full days a month. You must also attend an informational session on substitute teaching after your interview as well as attend a mandatory, paid substitute teacher training course.
