Job Description
Certified Medical Assistant performs a variety of patient care activities to assist physicians and nursing personnel, administering injections, EKGs, phlebotomy and various other procedures. Delivers quality customer service and maintains established quality control standards.
Schedules appointments for patients. Greet and log-in patients arriving at clinic. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of Physician. Interviews patients, measures vital signs (i.e. pulse, rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height)and records information on patients’ charts. May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physicians’ instructions to patients. Help physicians examine and treat patients, handing them instruments and materials or performing such task as giving injections, changing dressings and removing sutures. Authorize drug refills and provide prescription information to pharmacies. Follow-up on laboratory tests and sample analyses. Perform general office duties such as answering telephones and completing forms. Inventory and order medical, lab and office supplies and equipment.
Collect patient payments and organize daily receipts. Complete patient charting and EMR.

Requirements
Requires a high school diploma and Medical Assistant Certification.
Knowledge of EMR (Red Planet preferred), strong sense of customer service and strong patient care skills. Must have at least two years experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
