Job Description
Senior Control Systems Engineer with DeltaV, PLC, & Instrumentation Experience
The assignment for the Sr. Control Systems Engineer will be on a new large control systems project including a DeltaV DCS, AB ControlLogix PLC, and instrumentation. The purpose is provide DCS, PLC, and instrumentation engineering support and leadership to the project.
Accountabilities:
• Act as technical support on the DeltaV control system; work with plant operations and plant engineers to define and implement project requirements.
• Responsibilities include working with project sponsors and stakeholders to develop system requirements, detailed scopes of work, execution plans, control strategies, software development, and implementation plans.
• Work with other engineering service providers, consultants, and suppliers as the lead technical interface between those organizations and plant operations and plant engineers.
• Review work products, deliverables, and vendor data produced by Engineering Services providers, consultants and suppliers for compliance with established control systems technical criteria and requirements.
• Provide technical review and support for new DeltaV, PLC system, and instrumentation designs, drawings, specifications, troubleshooting, implementation, and installation.
• Develop and implement cutover, commissioning and start-up plans in conjunction with Engineering Service providers.
• Oversee engineering and field contractors to complete each project.
• Knowledge of instrumentation selection, calibration, and commissioning and FDT software.
• Technical decision making

Problem Solving:
• Organizes and assists in DeltaV DCS, PLC, and instrumentation engineering effort to meet project requirements.
• Plans start-up and commissioning activities to avoid plant start-up delays.
• New equipment constantly require increased skill levels in troubleshooting and implementing control system.

Requirements
Education & Qualifications
• College/University Education: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Other Qualifications: A minimum of 8 years experience, with at least 5 years in industrial plants, or equivalent functions on electrical and/or instrumentation activities in industrial construction projects. Have a thorough understanding of DeltaV control systems, AB ControlLogix PLCs and instrumentation as related to industrial plants. Should be computer literate; should be highly skilled with DCS and/or PLC and process control technologies; and should have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Must possess good analytical and people skills.
• Licenses/Certifications: BSEE Degree
• Training: DeltaV DCS, Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC’s viewed favorably.
Technical Competencies & Skills
• DCS Commissioning, Programming and Viewing Skills – used frequently, proficient skill level.
• AB ControlLogix Commissioning and Programming Skills – used frequently, proficient skill level.
• Understanding of Electrical and Control Systems Drawings, including P&IDs, Electrical One-Lines, Electrical Schematics and Instrumentation Loops – used frequently, proficient skill level.
• Use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint – used frequently, proficient skill level.
Relevant Experience
• Eight Years of experience working on control systems, automation and/or process controls.
• Two years of experience providing support on projects.
• Two years of experience supporting commissioning and/or start-up.
• College/University Education: BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
