Job Description
Maschoff Brennan Laycock Gilmore Israelsen & Wright is a rapidly growing intellectual property and complex litigation law firm. We are seeking a Litigation Paralegal in our Salt Lake office to provide legal assistance to multiple attorneys by: organizing and categorizing documents; creating and maintaining production databases and conducting factual research; preparing for depositions, organizing exhibits, and preparing transcripts; assisting in the preparation of motion filings; preparing and filing court submissions and documents; organizing exhibits, files and documents and coordinating set-up and logistics for upcoming trials; maintaining litigation docketing systems and reports; and performing other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
The minimum requirements for this position are a high school education plus five years of litigation-specific office experience OR a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional office experience plus two years of litigation-specific office experience OR CLA or CP certification plus three years of litigation-specific office experience.
Successful candidates will also possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities:
• In-depth knowledge of litigation rules and procedures
• Proficiency in use of electronic filing interface with federal and state courts; proficient use of various software applications including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and commercial litigation docketing software
• Ability to travel both in and out of state as required, especially for trial which may extend for several weeks
• Ability to review and edit documents, paying strict attention to detail is essential
• Ability to maintain internal filing systems, including correspondence, court submissions, attorney work papers and records
• Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to professionally handle confidential information, adhering to legal and ethical policies
• Ability to work independently and manage time and action plans for completing tasks for one or more attorneys
