Job Description
Studio Kids is an afterschool music, dance, and theater program taught in many Salt Lake County
elementary schools. We are looking for an instructor to direct, prepare and produce several plays of
approximately 15-35 participants. This opportunity provides excellent opportunity for those interested in non-profit programs, teaching and drama production.

Job Responsibilities Include:
Program Implementation & Direction
• Produce a fun, creative, professional show!!!
• Creating fun, energetic and safe classroom setting where children can learn, grow and have fun inthe world of MDT
• Elementary level skill demonstration and teaching of music, dance, and theater concepts
• Building positive self esteem in kids
• Casting & solos
• Teaching choreography
• Staying up or ahead of weekly curriculum
• Overseeing all logistics for dress rehearsals and show days
o Costumes, props, sets, sound, cues, printed programs, stage
o Reminders to office/principals/parents of show days
o Reminders to janitor of sound, equipment, stage needs for dress and show
• Complete expected weekly curriculum
• Ensure music/dance numbers are clean and organized in formation and delivery
• Ensure kids know entrances/exits (and sound cues with each)
• Block scenes (ensure kids know movement and placement on stage)
• Handle all logistics and details of directing a show
Skills: Knowledgeable in dance steps (elementary level), basic vocal technique, and drama. Must be
comfortable and professional in working with parents, children, teachers, principals, etc. Must know how to block scenes, choreograph, sing/model songs to students, teacher drama games/skills, be able to assist kids with stage presence, projection, improv, expression, motivate children and bring out their best.
Former experience in teaching young children is strongly preferred. Must have good leadership skills, be people oriented, prompt, responsible and organized.
Experience: Must have at minimum of 1 year college level singing, dancing and theater experience or
the professional equivalent. Prior teaching experience required. Prior directing experience strongly preferred. Prior experience teaching or working with children required. Must have own transportation.
Background check is required.
Hours: Multiple locations and classes needed. Each class is 2.75 hrs each week (1.75 hrs of class
instruction, 1 hour prep). Class hours are Monday-Thursday usually between the hours of 2:30 – 5
pm. Approximately 6 hrs/wk. Must be available during the above mentioned times.
Currently hiring instructor that can teacher 2-4 classes a week (5.5-11 hrs/week).
