Position Description: Experienced IT Support Technician for GroupLink, a mature and fast-growing software development company in Bountiful. Duties: IT Technician---- ???Maintain and configure network equipment including servers, laptops, PCs, routers and communications systems ???Provide PC hardware and software support ???Build new PCs, computers and servers ???Maintain a library of build images ???Maintain and configure the telephone system and associated equipment ???Administer user accounts, permissions, and Active Directory domains ???Enforce networking and security standards and policies ???Perform daily monitoring of the network and its associated equipment ???Perform daily backups of all networking resources ???Provide help desk support for users ???Maintain backup, email, antivirus, software ???Maintain software licenses ???Work with others to propose new hardware / software, obtain quotes and install new systems ???Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems. ???Introducing and integrating new technologies into existing data center environments. ???Performing routine audits of systems and software. ???Performing backups. ???Applying operating system updates, patches, and configuration changes. ???Installing and configuring new hardware and software. ???Working with LDAP (Active Directory, eDirectory, Open LDAP) ???Answering technical queries and dealing with often frustrated users. ???Responsibility for security ???Responsibility for documenting the configuration of the system. ???Troubleshooting any reported problems. ???System performance tuning. ???Ensuring that the network infrastructure is up and running. ???Ability to debug issues on a Unix environment in a multi-tiered architecture Customer Support--- ???Represent GroupLink in a professional, friendly and courteous manner in all correspondence and activities ???Diagnose problems through research, isolation and resolution steps Document results of research to expand internal knowledge base and provide reference for future troubleshooting ???Record all support activities in customer database, and assist in keeping customer records up to date. ???Prioritize requests when necessary, including escalation of issues to next level support, Applications Engineering and/or working with development to resolve issues as required ???Resolve requests in a timely manner, including tracking and proactive follow-up on tickets that are not immediately resolved. ???Keep current with the new technologies and application features as relate to support responsibilities ???Other duties may be assigned ???Complies with health and safety policies and procedures.

Position Requirements: ???A minimum of 5 years experience supporting the IT systems of a small to medium size business. ???Have advanced desktop skills including support of desktops, PCs, laptops and servers, and printers. ???Experience working in a help desk environment. ???Experience building and imaging PCs and laptops to a build standard. ???Good working knowledge of MS Office applications, OpenOffice, database servers, various operating systems (Windows, Netware, Linux), Novell GroupWise, and backup software and procedures. ???Experience with VPN clients and network routing ???Experience with virtual servers / PCs with VMware software ???Experience with technologies such as Apache, Tomcat, SQL ???Exposure to configuration control procedures ???Familiarity with Microsoft, Linux, and Apple operating systems. ???Familiarity with system virtualization ???Extensive Linux system administration background ???Understanding of common internet protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, SSH, etc.) and ways to troubleshoot these ???Understanding of switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs and load balancers ???Some programming skills in one or more of: C, Perl, Python, Ruby, Java ???Experience with MySQL and commonly deployed database systems ???Experience with Java applications servers such as Tomcat ???Experience with Apache HTTP server ???Experience with AWS or other cloud computing environments ???Familiar with Software Development Lifecycle and associated tooling ???Experience with release management ???Experience with test environment management ???Familiarity with ITIL guidelines for service management and support ???Can work under pressure and to tight deadlines in a quality controlled environment. ???Willing to work as part of a team. ???Must be a professional individual with excellent communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. ???Should be skilled in planning and organizing his/her own work requiring minimal day-to-day direction. ???Must be able to guide users through the troubleshooting processes and provide basic one-on-one application overviews to users. ???Service-oriented and have excellent customer-service skills. ???Neat in appearance, organized and meticulous in caring for details.
