Department Animal, Dairy & Veterinary Sciences (ADVS)
Position Summary
Conduct laboratory experiments in small animals to evaluate treatments for viral diseases.
Responsibilities
1. Carry out infection, drug treatments, necropsies, and data gathering under the direction of the lab supervisor
2. Cage maintenance
3. Order supplies, prepare reagents, operate autoclaves, and maintain records.
4. Work hours vary according to each experiment. Hours are mostly during normal business hours, but include several night and weekend shifts per week, including some Sundays. The night and weekend shifts are typically 2 hour shifts.

Minimum Qualifications
-B.S. degree in biological science OR 1+ years of laboratory experience.
-College algrebra
-Has completed the hepatitis vaccine series.
-Able to follow instructions with little supervision
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Pays attention to detail
-Dependable
Preferred Qualifications
1. Preference will be given to individuals with small animal research experience or veterinary technicians.
2. Chemistry course(s)
