Perl Developer Job Description

Bluehost is one of the largest shared webhosting companies in the world. Our success comes from the hard work and loyalty of our employees. Once you work at Bluehost you'll never want to work anywhere else! Do you want to be part of a company that feels like a big family, is constantly expanding, and innovative?

Position Summary

The Perl Developer will be part of a billing/payments development team building the next generation system. This team has high visibility in the company and is important for our ongoing success. All billing systems within the company will eventually be migrated to this system. You will be one of the core developers who will help deliver on the product vision.

What We’re Looking For

• Talented Perl programmer – You have been around the block a few times and are comfortable using Perl to make web apps work.
• Object Oriented Perl – You think Perl is more than "just a scripting language" and know how to make it do things others can’t. Plus you understand how Perl’s object orientation differs from other languages such as C# and Java.
• Web Experience – You are familiar with how the web works, and can hit the ground running writing web applications and tools.
• Open source world – You have lived in open source code for most or a good part of your career and are not a fan of the commercial software world. For example, you have no problem using Vim or Emacs as your “IDE” for Perl.
• Team Player – You work well as part of a team, and are willing to take direction, but can be trusted to get things done on your own.
• Hard Working – Once you get your bearings, you are heads-down and tenacious in completing assigned projects

• Able to work well with other team members

The Location

How would you like an office at the base of a beautiful snow-capped mountain range, overlooking a beautiful golf course, knowing that you are less than 20 minutes from night and weekend-skiing the Greatest Snow on Earth, mere minutes from summer-time mountain biking and hiking trails, and located in an area regularly ranked tops by Forbes, CNN, Money, BusinessWeek, etc. among the top places to live, work, start a business, or raise a family? If this sounds appealing to you, then you might love working at Bluehost. Bluehost will pay relocation costs for out of state hires.

Bluehost prides itself on hiring the best and brightest minds in the industry. Our sharp, progressive management team “gets it” and fosters an environment of continual improvement—open to soliciting ideas, trying new things, and measuring results. The Bluehost environment is light on politics, purposeless rules, meetings, and rhetoric, and heavy on teamwork, working smarter and “finding what works.”

Compensation

This is a full-time salaried position and includes a competitive benefits package. There is no specified salary range. We simply want the best talent we can find whatever the price—and for the right candidate we are willing to consider whatever it takes to make it worth their while.

  • Research the company before submitting your resume or personal information to them.
  • If the company is asking you to cash checks and wire money back to them then the job is a scam.
