Job Description
eLearning Instructional Designer with Instructional Design experience and working knowledge of designing, developing, documenting, creating, testing and modifying eLearning programs using specialized tools such as Flash, Captivate and other multimedia tools. The eLearning Instructional Designer is responsible for the development of innovative and engaging online training content that incorporates mixed media such as graphics, animation, text, audio and video using a working knowledge of instructional design and development software tools and methodologies. The eLearning Instructional Designer must have experience developing storyboards, courseware materials, supplemental materials, such as job aids, glossaries, guides, etc. Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to meet aggressive deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop web-based training courses using needs assessments and skill level analyses of Prosper students.
• Coordinate activities of curriculum development team engaged in educational materials creation.
• Develop instructional materials and scripts to be used by students, coaches and sales.
• Develop tests, questionnaires and procedures that measure the effectiveness of curricula and use these tools to determine whether program objectives are being met.
• Organize production and design of curriculum materials.
• Research, evaluate and prepare recommendations on curricula, instructional methods and materials.
• Update content of educational programs to ensure that students are being trained with materials that are technologically current.

Tasks and Work Activities

• Work on a project from request to implementation. Must be able to:
o Start from the beginning with scoping
o Write objectives
o Learn the process/tool/content
o Edit existing content
o Create content to fill gaps
o Create knowledge checks
o Build the storyboard
o Transfer the storyboard into the elearning software
o Assist with loading into the LMS
o Manage UAT and testing of the course(s)
o Troubleshoot links, bookmarking or completion issues
o Measure results
• As part of a team, develop course or training objectives.
• Adapt, create, develop courses of study designed to meet student needs.
• Recommend curricula changes based on educational outcomes and student feedback.
Requirements
Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Adult or Workforce Learning, Education, Communications, or other related discipline is preferred. Experience in lieu of education will be considered.
• Master’s degree in Instructional Systems Design, Curriculum & Instruction, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Educational Psychology, or similar field preferred.
• 3 years experience in building and implementing E-Learning programs.
• Experience applying cognitive learning theory to the development of instructional objectives and adult learning methodologies.
• Strong e-learning content/storyboarding development experience, including: web-based training, simulation development, interactive video, gaming, and collaborative/social learning design/development expertise.
• Experience writing user manuals to an end-user (learner) audience. Journalism/technical writing experience preferred.
• Expert in MS Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Publisher.
• Strong experience with standard e-learning development tools: Articulate, Camtasia, Adobe Presenter, Dreamweaver, FLASH; some knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.
• Proficient with Adobe Suite, such as: Acrobat, Connect, Photoshop, InDesign.
• Proficiency using multi-media technology to enhance training / learning experiences.
