Job Description
Hoyt Archery Company, a premier manufacturer of archery products, is looking for a talented & experienced Purchasing Agent to join the Supply Chain Team. This position will be responsible for helping direct the activities of buyers, the procurement of supplies, materials, and services that provide the optimum value for the company.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Responsible for the procurement and distribution of material, parts, equipment, and supplies for the organization by performing the following duties.
•Uses forecast generated by Production planning team to create stocking orders for inventoried items.
•Set’s up new suppliers by filling out credit applications, providing the company and setting the supplier up in the operations system.
•Solicits and evaluates proposals for requested commodities.
•Investigates and or interview’s potential new suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements.
•Negotiates the lowest possible cost for commodity balanced against the optimum quality and schedule needs.
•Prepares purchase order bids, evaluates proposals and negotiates contracts within the scope of operating strategy.
•Maintains procurement records such as items or services purchased, costs, on time delivery, quality performance records.
•Adjusts inventory levels up and down with seasonality trends and forecast requirements to ensure the proper amount of inventory. Works closely with suppliers to understand and reduce lead times.
•Works with international suppliers and shipping expeditors to make sure we receive the inventory on time and comply with all government regulations.
•Works closely with the Marketing department to ensure that proper inventory levels are maintained of promotional items.
•Works closely with Engineering during new product design and implementation. Recommends current suppliers or sources new suppliers for new product. As new technologies are introduced and become available, forwards information to Engineering for consideration. Works with engineers and suppliers to solve problems that arise concerning parts.
•Works with QA and Receiving regarding inspection & quality control to evaluate vendors and to determine and needed corrective action.
Quality Management System: Works with the Supply Chain Manager to communicate and resolve supplier quality alerts. With the assistance of suppliers, develops cause analysis and preventative actions plans.

Education and Experience
•Bachelors or associates degree in business or related field required
•7+ years of purchasing experience required. Manufacturing experience preferred. Additional training and professional development through seminars and involvement in a professional association is encouraged.
•Array of commodity experience required
•General knowledge of computers and software packages such as Microsoft Word and Excel required
•Knowledge of supply chain management required
•Writing skills to be able to properly communicate procedures, memos, contract terms, and quality issues required
•Interpersonal skills including the ability to tactfully direct the work of others as well as outside the department and suppliers required
•Negotiation skills required
•Basic math skills required
