Job Description
Utah Community Credit Union is seeking a full time Mortgage Underwriter for our Provo, UT Corporate Office. This position is responsible for performing credit analysis for newly originated residential mortgage loans. Primary duties involve analysis of risk with consideration agency guidelines, investor guidelines and compensating factors that mitigate risk. In addition to utilizing automated underwriting findings, underwriters are responsible for issuing approval and denial decisions as well as properly conditioning files for additional documentation requirements in order to ensure compliance and file integrity.
Requirements
Minimum experience required:
2 years recent experience underwriting conventional loans to FNMA/FHLMC standards in a full-time capacity with direct responsibility for loan quality
Strong understanding of Agency guidelines (FNMA/FHLMC) and ability to review appraisals and complex income documentation.
Strong comfort level with accessing real time investor seller and GSE guides to ensure top notch loan quality and loan sale ability on secondary market
Strong working knowledge of MDIA, RESPA, TILA, and Fair Lending regulations as it relates to underwriting mortgage loans
Excellent problem solving skills
Proven customer service skills and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Skills/Background:
Accustomed to working in a fast pace environment while maintaining a detail oriented approach
Bachelors Degree or equivalent mortgage industry experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
FHA/VA/USDA underwriting experience
