Job Description

This position is responsible to help define, then articulate and manage the strategic messaging platforms of the company. Specifically, the role will:
• Lead a team of writing and marketing project specialists, including making job assignments, following up on tasks, holding weekly group meetings and individual meetings, trafficking all open projects within the marketing team and those involving other departments, including training, events, purchasing, product development, creative services and IT.
• Personally manage a number of projects from large-scale long range projects to quick-turn same day projects, including print and web collateral, incentive campaign write-ups and deployments, event-specific content, PowerPoints, planning summaries, catalogs, brochures, product packaging, e-mail campaigns, web interface and e-commerce projects, etc.
• Write copy to include training materials and manuals, scripts and presentations, blog posts, articles, web copy and a variety of promotional materials. Edit and proof others’ work as well.
• Conduct data analysis and undertake a variety of analytical projects including sales projections, interfacing with operations, understanding budget tracking and P&L reporting, etc.
• Act as a member of the marketing management team to discuss higher-level, inter-departmental projects and create complex timelines and task lists and report on status. Be accountable for the on-time, on-strategy, on-budget delivery of a variety of disparate projects.
• Personally manage the deployment of e-mail campaigns and web pages in Mail Chimp, SiteCore, and/or other applications.
• Oversee execution of the corporate style guide and appropriate use of legal marks
• Partner with management team to craft branding strategies/product naming conventions, product packaging positioning, etc.

Requirements
Educational requirements: (degrees, specialized training and certifications required)
A bachelor’s degree is required in a liberal arts, communications, or business discipline.

Experience: (number of years)
A minimum of 5 years of experience in business, marketing, or public relations is required beyond degree.

Prefer previous management or supervisory experience, including conducting employee reviews, training, disciplinary actions, hiring/termination, etc. and have strength in managing the work and momentum of others while maintaining personal productivity.

Must have exceptional writing skills with an extensive portfolio. Writing experience must be diverse and include marketing copy, ad copy, persuasive/editorial copy, instructional copy and script writing. A minimum of three writing samples will be required if asked to interview; a writing/marketing test may also be part of interview process.

Demonstrated project management skills, particularly in a content-rich, production-intensive environment (publishing, media, or agency experience preferred).

Strong technical aptitude and an fluency in Microsoft Office applications (including Excel and Powerpoint), plus a demonstrated comfort level with learning and managing in-house software applications and best-practice protocols.

Must have proven experience in “long form” writing (manuals, training courses, keynote addresses, etc.)

Prefer direct sales/network marketing corporate experience as well as a familiarity with papercrafting/scrapbooking/stamping.

Autonomy: This position requires independent motivation and strong creative and fact-finding abilities. The position will require personal productivity apart from management responsibilities.

The position also requires significant team interaction and leadership abilities, include strength in tact, persuasion, problem-solving, listening, customer service, and follow-through.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Position will supervise a current team of 5. Job will interact closely with Creative Services Director, New Product Development Manager, and Art Studio Manager as marketing team peers and Consultant Services Director and IT Director as project partners. Position reports to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing.
