Job Summary
Cottonwood Residential, a national multi-family property management firm, is seeking a full-time Interior Designer. The individual will be responsible for supporting the VP of Construction Management and SVP of Property Management with the coordination and administration of new and existing projects.
The ideal candidate for this position is able to exercise good judgment and prioritize well. This person should have a high degree of flexibility, operate effectively in a fast paced environment, and have the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time. The ability to build strong relationships with other departments and contractors is critical in order to accomplish tasks and achieve goals.
Responsibilities
Plan, design, and furnish interiors of our various communities. This would include but not limited to apartment models, clubhouses, fitness centers, and any other areas as requested. Also assist in the selection of any project that requires a color or design selection such as exterior paint colors, pool furniture, new signs, and so forth. Formulate design which is practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes.
Major Duties
Estimate material requirements and costs, and present design for approval.
Confer with Cottonwood team to determine factors affecting planning interior environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, as well as purpose and function.
Advise on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, and color coordination.
Select or design furnishings, art works, and accessories.
Formulate plan to be practical, aesthetic, and conducive to intended purposes.
Work with local management to subcontract fabrication, installation, and arrangement of carpeting, fixtures, accessories, draperies, paint and wall coverings, art work, furniture, and related items.
Should be able to work with blueprints, drawings, and models to accurately design and develop designs for facilities.

Must have knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles.
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources.
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, designing forms, and other office procedures and terminology.
Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
Physical Requirements
Travel is required as needed depending on the job. Travel estimated to be 8-10 days per month.
Physical Mobility must be sufficient to move about in office and properties including climbing stairs and to drive an automobile.
Must be able to handle stress and meet deadlines.
Education
Requires a working knowledge of interior design techniques, principles, tools, and mental development equivalent to a Bachelor of Arts, Science or Fine Arts degree with a license in Qualified Interior Design.
Membership in the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) preferred.
