Job Description
The Executive Director is based in Salt Lake City and is the key leadership position that works with an involved volunteer board of directors and small paid staff in Mali, Africa to envision, plan, coordinate, implement and evaluate all ongoing and new health, education and economic programs that help the villagers of the Ouelessebougou region in Mali, Africa improve their quality of life.
This position requires you to be an energetic, creative, collaborative, visionary individual who has skill as an administrator, a marketer, a fundraiser and key implementer. This is a hands-on position. Though there is another part-time staff in the local office, you are the key point for implementing all programs in Utah and coordinating with the Malian staff to implement all programs in Ouelessebougou. You will have the support of an active and always opinionated volunteer board of directors to accomplish your tasks. You will spend 30-50% of time fund raising to ensure ongoing program continuity and the rest of your time coordinating with a local Board and Malian staff as well as carrying out the activities that ensure all programs are implemented both in Utah and in Mali.
The Ouelessebougou Alliance is a 25 year old non-profit organization that works in partnership with Malian villagers in rural Ouelessebougou to provide sustainable health, education, and economic development opportunities. Mali, West Africa is one of the five poorest countries in the world. Extreme poverty is a reality for most Malians. We work together with the villagers to empower communities and change lives.
