The Secretary to the Principal provides administrative support to the Principal and the school; assists staff, students, parents and the public; performs clerical functions and ensures compliance with all financial, legal and administrative requirements. Example tasks include: Collects money for adult education tuition and make daily deposit of funds received; Compiles data from a variety of sources (e.g., payroll, attendance, financial information, etc.) to comply with financial, legal and/or administrative requirements; Coordinates site programs and activities (e.g., field trips, substitutes, building security, workshops, travel and accommodations, staff coverage, meetings, newsletters, etc.); Maintains a variety of manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g., administrative records, forms, policies and procedures, student files, web pages, etc.); Monitors and reconciles account balances and financial activity (e.g., adult education tuition, etc.) to ensure that allocations are accurate, expenses are within budget limits and fiscal practices are followed; Monitors a variety of activities on behalf of Principal (e.g., account balances, work orders, etc.); Performs clerical functions (answering telephones, filing, copying, distributing mail, etc.); and Prepares and processes reports, documents and written materials (e.g., attendance records, budgets, charts, correspondence, flyers, invoices, payroll, programs, requisitions, student registration, purchase orders, meeting minutes, timesheets, budget transfers, reimbursements, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum two years clerical experience in an office environment. Basic computer ability in MS Word and Excel (applicants will be tested). Basic bookkeeping skills. Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. Ability to prioritize, show strong attention to detail and accuracy, and multitask in an office setting. Ability to work with minimal supervision and with constant interruptions. Ability to meet deadlines and schedules. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Bi-lingual in English/Spanish required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a secretary to the principal in a high school. Experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Working knowledge of PowerSchool (student information system) and IFAS (accounting, payroll, HR system).
