Job Description
The Utah State Bar is seeking applications for a newly-created staff position of Director of Public Relations and Communications. The Director will generate regular and pro-active stories in various print, radio, television and social media to raise awareness of the Bar and the Bar’s services to the public; to help raise awareness of lawyers’ roles as problem solvers and in protecting important rights; and provide publicity about Bar events, awards, projects, services, programs, and initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Public communications efforts will include public education/awareness campaigns and advertising about the Bar, the role of attorneys and the judiciary in society and the availability of legal assistance resources; to help raise awareness of lawyers’ roles as problem solvers and in protecting important rights: and to educate the public about how the Bar leads society in the creation of a justice system that is understood, valued, respected, and accessible to all. The Director will be responsible to develop and manage all general public relations efforts including appropriate exposure through the Bar’s web site and in social media and through personal contacts with local print, television, radio media. The Director will coordinate internal Bar communications to make lawyers aware of opportunities for involvement in Bar activities, programs, services, initiatives, events, committees, sections, and leadership, and publicize the availability of the various group benefit programs.
Requirements
Qualifications:

Applicants must have exceptional communications and organizational skills, familiarity with the legal profession and the judicial system, experience in public relations and social media and strong human relations abilities. Experience in the Utah legal system and/or non-profit sector is helpful

Required Abilities:

The Director will need to be able to completely understand and clearly explain the nature of the Bar and all of its services, programs and events and creatively publicize and tirelessly advocate the important work and valuable services provided by the Bar.
