Job Description
Electrical Engineer:
The Lead Electrical Engineer must have at least 15 years in the industry with 10 years of related work experience in consulting engineering doing industrial work.
• Preparing calculations and sketches for a detailed segment of a project
• Prepare technical specifications for review and approval
• Evaluate vendor bids and drawings to assure compliance with specifications for reviews
• Approve design drawings for assigned segment for a project
• Monitor the activities of subcontracted technical services
• Assist with the development of design guides, guide specifications, and design control procedures
• Supervise work through the planning and scheduling of work and the review of approval of tasks


Lead Electrical Designer:
Candidate should have 15-25 years experience in Electrical and Instrument design with heavy industrial experience. Candidate must be a self starter, knowledgeable of the complexities of industrial design, and have excellent design capabilities in a broad range of industries. He or she must be experienced leading design efforts, must also be able to function as part of a project design team consisting of other engineers and designers as well as engineering design staff from other disciplines. Candidate must be willing to train others. Must also be able to check others work.

• Serves as the Lead Electrical Designer for PSE’s Electrical Design department by:
• Participating in the hiring of and, when needed, the disciplinary actions for Electrical Designers.
• Preparing performance reviews for the Electrical Designers in the department.
• Mentoring the Electrical Designers in the department by training them in all aspects of their job responsibilities.
• Answering questions and providing guidance on the day-to-day activities of the Electrical Designers.
• Generates design and detail drawings and manages and maintains the Project Documentation.
• Creates cad drawings from engineering sketches and scrubbing drawings from design mark up.
• Gathers information, makes studies, and prepares original rough layouts and sketches to present design proposal.
• Serves as Project Lead for single- and multi-discipline projects by estimating work hours, developing scope of work, making staffing recommendations, and checking drawings.
• Coordinates design criteria with engineering in accordance with contractual specifications.
• Selects, recommends, and prepares preliminary designs.
• Provides a full range of drawing production work including problem analysis, design layout and some calculations.
• Participates in inter-discipline checks.
• Interacts with other departments and suppliers to obtain pertinent information.
• Performs initial field survey to determine optimum equipment and tie-ins to existing facilities and facility operations and safety criteria.
Requirements
Electrical Engineer:
• Industrial work
• Heavy commercial work
• Light industrial facilities design including MCC’s, power systems and Cable Trays
• Required education is a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
• PE license preferred
• Dapper & Capper software/SKM
• Must be capable of exercising independent judgment in evaluating, selecting and applying standard design engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to make minor design adaptations and modifications.
• Proficient computer skills
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Must be able to work as a team member, contributing to the overall program development by participating in-group discussions in areas of expertise.
• High integrity and honesty


Lead Electrical Designer:
• 15+ years experience in design
• Must have demonstrated experience preparing accurate hour estimates for large projects and preparing and maintaining design schedules.
• Must have demonstrated experience leading large and small design groups both in the office and in the field.
• Demonstrated expertise required as a lead designer in electrical and instrumentation design.
• Associates degree in Drafting required, Bachelors preferred and or equivalent experience/degree.
• Proficiency with AutoCad required. AutoCad Electrical a plus.
• Maintain CAD proficiency and master current CAD systems.
• Refinery experience a plus.
• Consulting engineering experience.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
• Must work well with others and be a team player.
• Must have excellent knowledge of NEC.
