Job Description
BYU-Hawaii is a four-year undergraduate university with 2500 students located in Laie, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, 38 miles from Honolulu. The institution is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and preference is given to candidates who are members of the church. Observance of the University’s behavioral code and dress and grooming standards is a specific condition of employment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• We invite application for a tenure track position in Exercise and Sports Science and Women’s Volleyball Coach. Master’s degree (doctorate preferred) in Exercise Science, Physical Education or closely related field.
• Must have volleyball coaching experience, ability to recruit Division II student athletes and excellent communication skills. A strong working knowledge of NCAA rule and regulations is required. Candidates must have a commitment to athletic and academic success.
Responsibilities:
• Teaching—60%, Coaching—40% for the academic year, 11-month contract.
• Leadership and oversight for Women’s Volleyball program. Responsibilities include recruitment of potential student athletes, operational issues of the Women’s volleyball program including game and practice logistics, facilitation of student academic success. Volleyball Coach works under the Director of Athletics in fulfilling these responsibilities.
• Position requires ability, interest, and experience teaching courses from the EXS curriculum including health and wellness areas as well as general education courses in sports skills. Ability to teach sports management courses a plus.
