Job Description
BYU-Hawaii is a four-year undergraduate university with 2500 students located in Laie, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, 38 miles from Honolulu. The institution is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and preference is given to candidates who are members of the church. Observance of the University’s behavioral code and dress and grooming standards is a specific condition of employment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Doctorate degree preferred in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, or closely related field with a strong emphasis in health and wellness and health promotion. ABD will be considered.
• Must provide a teaching, scholarship, and service record in his/her discipline meriting appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.
• Teaching responsibilities will include courses in health and wellness or sports management areas as well general education courses in sports skills. Ability to teach department research methods course is a plus.
• Must understand and commit to support the mission of the University and provide a commitment to student success.
• Candidate should have a commitment to research, publication, and educational assessment, and sensitivity to and appreciation for the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Asia-Pacific Region.
• Candidate is expected to develop their own scholarship.

Responsibilities:
• Successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate level and assist in the development of the Health and Fitness & Wellness Management programs.
• Quality performance will be expected in teaching, professional growth and development, University and community-service, and in the area of scholarly productivity.
