Job Description
BYU-Hawaii is a four-year undergraduate university with 2500 students located in Laie, Hawaii on the island of Oahu, 38 miles from Honolulu. The institution is sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and preference is given to candidates who are members of the church. Observance of the University’s behavioral code and dress and grooming standards is a specific condition of employment.
Requirements
Qualifications:
• Brigham Young University Hawaii (BYUH) invites applicants for a tenure track position in biology for a Ph.D. level (ABD acceptable), broadly-trained systemic physiologist.
• Applicants should have a genuine interest in teaching at the undergraduate level, mentoring student research, advising students, and teaching in a multi-cultural environment.
• Must understand and commit to support the mission of the University and be committed to facilitating student performance.
• Candidate should have a commitment to research, publication, and educational assessment, and sensitivity to and appreciation for the linguistic and cultural diversity of the Asia-Pacific Region.

Responsibilities:
• The individual would be expected to teach major courses in upper level physiology and genetics in addition to introductory biology courses for majors and non-majors.
• BYUH Biology Department has an extensive undergraduate original research program and a successful candidate would be expected to contribute substantially to this program.
• Quality performance will be expected in teaching, professional growth and development, University and community service, and in the area of scholarly productivity.
