Pearsall had 65 catches for 965 yards and four TDs last season at Florida and gives the Niners a possible option as a slot receiver. Pearsall was known for some highlight-reel catches during his time in college and now is the latest potential playmaker added to a dynamic offense that made it to the Super Bowl last season.

The Baltimore Ravens have picked Clemson cornerback Nate Wiggins with the 30th pick in the NFL draft, boosting their secondary late in a first round light on defensive selections. Baltimore fought through injuries in the secondary last season, when the Ravens posted the best record in the NFL during the regular season. This is the first time since 2017 that Baltimore took a cornerback in the first round. The Ravens picked Marlon Humphrey that year, and he's still with the team. The speedy Wiggins ran the 40-yard dash in 4.28 seconds at the NFL's scouting combine in March.

The move gives quarterback Bryce Young another weapon in the passing game. The 6-foot-3, 227-pound Legette had 71 catches for 1,255 yards and seven touchdowns last season for the Gamecocks. Legette joins Panthers receivers Diontae Johnson, Adam Thielen and last year's second-round pick, Jonathan Mingo. He was one of seven wide receivers taken in the first round of the NFL draft.

The Chicago Bears did exactly as expected by taking USC star Caleb Williams with the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. They are banking on the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner to become the sort of quarterback they have been craving for years to lift a founding franchise to the top of the NFL. Chicago has just three playoff appearances since the 2006 team reached the Super Bowl and failed to advance in the postseason twice in that span. The Bears see themselves as a playoff contender after going from three wins in 2022 to finishing 7-10 last season.

The Bucs are coming off a third consecutive NFC South championship and a franchise-record fourth straight playoff appearance. With Baker Mayfield leading the way at quarterback, the team won five of six games heading into the postseason, where they beat the Eagles in a wild-card matchup before losing to the Lions in the NFC divisional round. Offensive line is one of several areas of need for the Bucs, who lost guard Aaron Stinnie in free agency. Robert Hainsey has filled for an injured Ryan Jensen at center the past two seasons.

The Green Bay Packers addressed a position of need and departed from their usual strategy of targeting defensive players in the first round by selecting Arizona offensive tackle Jordan Morgan with the 25th overall pick in the NFL draft on Thursday. This was only the second time in the past 13 drafts that the Packers have selected an offensive player with their first pick. The other instance came in 2020. That's when they traded up four spots to take Utah State quarterback Jordan Love at No. 26 overall.

Latu's selection ended a 14-player run on offense, which is a draft record. Last season's Pac-12 defensive player of the year is expected to beef up Indy's outside pass rush. The 6-foot-5, 259-pound Latu started his career at Washington, where a neck injury forced him to miss two full seasons. He had neck fusion surgery, prompting then-Huskies coach Jimmy Lake to announce that Latu had retired. But Latu transferred to UCLA and was cleared to play in 2022.

The Atlanta Falcons provided the first major surprise of the NFL draft by selecting quarterback Michael Penix Jr. of Washington with the No. 8 pick. The Falcons extended their recent trend of selecting offensive skill players in the first round by drafting Penix one month after signing Kirk Cousins to a four-year, $180 million contract with $100 million guaranteed. Using a draft slot normally targeted for players expected to make an immediate impact, the Falcons chose Penix as the apparent long-term successor to the 35-year-old Cousins. The Falcons had been expected to use the pick to boost their pass rush.

The Seattle Seahawks filled a need on the defensive front, selecting Texas defensive tackle Byron Murphy II with the No. 16 pick of the first round of the NFL draft. The first draft under new coach Mike Macdonald went to the defensive side of the ball with the first selection of his tenure and bolstered a clear area where Seattle needed improvement. The Seahawks had veteran Jarran Reed at the position, but otherwise lacked an impactful second option. Murphy could end up being exactly what Seattle needs. Athletic and powerful, Murphy was a second-team AP All-American and the Big 12 Conference defensive lineman of the year last season for the Longhorns.

The Los Angeles Rams have selected Florida State defensive end Jared Verse with the 19th pick in the NFL draft. Verse had two productive seasons for the Seminoles, finishing with 18 sacks and 29 1/2 tackles for loss in 25 games. He joins a Rams defensive front that no longer has Aaron Donald, who retired in March. Verse was the Rams' first first-round pick since the team traded up to select quarterback Jared Goff No. 1 overall in 2016. Los Angeles had traded away its first-round pick every year since. That strategy paid off when the Rams won the Super Bowl after the 2021 season.

The 6-foot-4, 317-pound Fautanu started 15 games at left tackle last season as the Huskies reached the College Football Playoff final against Michigan. He won the Joe Moore Award, given annually to the top offensive lineman in the country, in the process. The 23-year-old Fautanu joins an offense that hit the reset button in the offseason. The Steelers have made several notable moves over the past two months, including signing quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Chiefs sent the No. 32 pick, along with a fourth-rounder and seventh-rounder, to the Bills for No. 28, a fourth-rounder and a seventh-rounder. Rice is facing charges in Texas for a sports car crash that resulted in several injuries.

The Jacksonville Jaguars continued to build around franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence by trading down six spots and drafting LSU receiver Brian Thomas Jr. with the 23rd overall pick in the NFL draft. Adding the 6-foot-3, 209-pound Thomas should help offset the loss of Calvin Ridley to rival Tennessee in free agency and give the Jaguars a chance to have a legit No. 1 receiver for the first time since Jimmy Smith retired following the 2005 season. Thomas led the Football Bowl Subdivision with 17 receiving touchdowns last season. He finished with 68 catches for 1,177 yards, averaging a whopping 17.3 yards a reception.
