PARK CITY -- Park City may soon be asking drivers to turn off their engines.
City officials are considering an "Idle Free City" resolution to try to help cut down on air pollution.
Salt Lake County, Ogden and Provo all have ordinances keeping city employees from idling in city and county vehicles. However, Park City would be the first municipality in Utah to have a rule for the public.
The resolution would ask drivers to not warm up their cars in driveways or leave them running while at the ATM. Drivers would also be encouraged to turn off the engine while at a drive-thru.
The resolution would not include citations or fines and could be adopted before the end of the year.
