WEST JORDAN — Police used a Taser to arrest a 16-year-old boy who they say vandalized several stores in West Jordan early Tuesday.
Unified police were called to a 7-Eleven store near 6200 South and 3600 West around 3:30 a.m. Police said the teen "tore up" the store and had vandalized nearby stores, as well. When officers approached, he attacked them, according to West Jordan police spokesman Dan Roberts.
"The suspect fought with them and was ultimately tased and then taken into custody. (He) continued to resist and was sedated by paramedics and transported to a hospital," Roberts said.
He said the teen may have been under the influence of a substance or experiencing mental health issues.
Roberts said the boy likely will face charges related to the approximately $200,000 in damage, as well as in connection with assaulting an officer.
