SALT LAKE CITY — The Bureau of Land Management is holding a pair of public meetings and soliciting comment as it begins the task of crafting an environmental analysis of a travel management plan in the Book Cliffs.

The agency is designing the plan to establish a network of roads for travel and transportation for both motorized and nonmotorized use.

Such a plan is meant to accommodate public access for a variety of purposes, including recreation, hunting, grazing, mineral exploration and energy development.

Public meetings are set for 6 to 8 p.m. June 7 at Vernal City Hall, 374 E. Main, and on June 8 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the main conference room of the Uintah Basin Applied Technology Center, 1100 E. Lagoon St., Roosevelt.

During the meetings, maps of the current and potential travel network will be available for review. Comments are being accepted June 7 through July 7.

People are encouraged to submit comments online through BLM’s ePlanning page.

Comments may also be submitted to BLM_UT_Vernal_Comments@BLM.gov or by mail to the following address: BLM-Vernal Field Office, Attn: Book Cliffs Travel Management, 170 S. 500 East, Vernal, UT 84078.
