BOX ELDER COUNTY — An Idaho man was killed after his semitruck crashed on I-15 Friday.
Charles Ganieany, 43, from Idaho Falls, was driving northbound on I-15 in a semitruck attached to two empty asphalt tar tanks when the accident occurred, according to Utah Highway Patrol. At around 4 p.m., Ganieany crossed over the median into the southbound lanes before going off the road, police said.
The semitruck traveled up a hill on the shoulder of the road until it lost momentum and began rolling back down the hill, eventually landing on its tires.
Police said Ganieany was not wearing his seat belt and was thrown into the passenger seat of the truck. He was unresponsive when emergency personnel first arrived on the scene and was transported to the Bear River Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The crash is being investigated as the result of a possible medical problem.
