PROVO — An 18-year-old man accused of threatening Provo police officers in a Snapchat message Thursday was arrested Friday.
According to Provo Police, the Snapchat post showed a man later identified as Jonah Robinson pointing a Glock pistol at four officers who were investigating a reported theft near 400 W. 300 South about 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 16.
The officers were unaware of the post, which depicted a man pointing a gun at them from inside a residence. However, police dispatchers received multiple calls from people about the message.
Provo police, with help from the Utah County Major Crimes Task Force, located and arrested Robinson Friday afternoon, a police press release issued Saturday said.
He was booked for investigation of theft by receiving stolen property, threat of violence and possession of a weapon by a restricted person.
The Provo Police Department expressed its gratitude to people who reported the threat and to officers from multiple agencies whose work resulted in the arrest.
