MAGNA — Police released the name of a man who was killed after being shot in front of a house where he was attending a party late Thursday evening.

Police received reports about several shots being fired around 11 p.m. at 3231 S. 8820 West, according to Unified police Sgt. Shane Manwaring. A group of people were having a party at the house when a vehicle drove up in front of the residence. Two men inside a Sedan began talking to Tristen Mogadam, 18, and then fired several shots, Manwaring said.

Police said Mogadam was shot “an undetermined amount of times,” but was able to make it back inside the house before he collapsed and lost consciousness. Unified Fire Authority officials responded and began CPR before transporting Mogadam to Intermountain Medical Center. Mogadam succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital.

“It appears where this car pulled up at this house … it came to this residence on purpose … and our victim came out and talked to them,” Manwaring said. “It appears it wasn’t a random act, that they knew each other. So the public has nothing to worry about.”

Manwaring said there were a lot of witnesses in the house at the time of the shooting and they are conducting interviews. Police are seeking two adult black males in connection with the shooting. At this time, Manwaring said it doesn’t appear that the shooting is gang related, but they have not yet determined the relationship between Mogadam and the two men in the vehicle.
